Where humanitarian aid and disaster relief provide short-term fixes to emergencies, global development seeks to make long-term and sustainable changes to help improve people's lives by empowering them with the tools and resources required to help themselves.
As an MGD student, you will study six core modules, including Critical Issues in Global Development, Equitable Development and Social Change, and Politics and Foreign Relations. You’ll have the option to undertake individual research, complete an Australian or international internship, or focus on a program specialisation stream. The specialisation streams include:
- Disaster Resilience, Conservation and Natural Resource Management
- Economics, Governance and Social Change
- Indigenous Futures
- Public Health
- Sustainable Development Planning and Policy
- Development Leadership and Management.
Employment opportunities for MGD graduates are as diverse as they are rewarding.
