About Information Technology

Expand your career and enhance your employability by gaining expert skills in Information Technology (IT) including computer programming, data analysis and multimedia. Learn how to identify and diagnose technical issues, create solutions and improve technical systems. As you study the fundamentals of problem-solving and programming, the importance of data modelling, and design and development, you’ll be equipped to help your current or future workplace run smoothly and innovatively.

In the Master of Information Technology degree, you will study four foundational subjects: Internet Fundamentals; Database Modelling; Problem Solving and Programming; and either Web Design and Development or e-Strategic Management. Students enrolled in Cairns can major in Computing, while students enrolled in JCU Brisbane can choose either Computing or Business Informatics for their major.


What career possibilities are there?

With a Master of Information Technology from JCU, you’ll develop a keen understanding of information technology's organisational systems and practical applications. You’ll also build your leadership skills, equipping you to implement these in your workplace.

Graduates may find themselves in roles such as chief technology officer, programmer, network administrator, systems developer, software developer, systems analyst, program administrator and more.

Graduates are eligible for certification with the Australian Computer Society upon completion of the course.
