JCU Bridging Excellence Scholarship

The JCU Bridging Excellence Scholarship is available to a Diploma of Nursing Student who has completed or will complete their studies in the current year and has selected or will select JCU Bachelor of Nursing Science as their first preference through QTAC.

The scholarship includes:

  • $10,000 paid directly to the recipient in installments over two years.
  • JCU ‘Bridging Excellence’ Scholarship Certificate
  • A JCU representative to present the JCU ‘Bridging Excellence’ Scholarship at the relevant Diploma graduation ceremony.

JCU Pathways Prizes

The Pathway Prizes are available to Diploma of Nursing Students who have completed or will complete their studies in the current year, and have selected or will select JCU Bachelor of Nursing Science as their first preference through QTAC.

The prize includes:

  • $500 paid directly to the students at the end of the first year.
  • A JCU representative to present the JCU ‘Pathways’ prizes at the relevant Diploma graduation ceremony

Criteria and Information

The JCU Bridging Excellence Scholarship

The process of selecting the JCU Bridging Excellence Scholarship recipient is to be determined by a selection panel. The student will have completed a Diploma of Nursing in 2025, and completed their application, including supporting information.

The JCU Bridging Excellence Scholarship is awarded to domestic students only. Eligible students need to be:

  • An Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder, or Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen
  • A current student undertaking a Diploma of Nursing due to complete in the year of their application
  • Have applied or will apply directly to JCU ‘s Bachelor of Nursing Science degree.

  • Successful recipients are likely to exhibit all or some of the following:
    • Consistent achievement and progress in their studies.
    • A commitment to Nursing, especially in Regional Australia.
    • Resilience and perseverance in their studies or extracurricular accomplishments.

Students are encouraged to make own decisions of where and how to expend their award funds. It is anticipated students will be encouraged to expend funds in a manner that assists with their studies or supports their wellbeing.

Students will receive award funds by direct deposit into their nominated bank account.
